All of us, no matter how hard we try, will always disappoint someone, if not ourselves. What do we do when we fail? And what does failure mean for us?
God has given you GRACE.
Grace is the room to make mistakes. Grace is the safe space to fail. Grace is picking you off the ground when you feel like you deserved to stay down.
Sometimes we forget just how Great the Grace of God is. Sometimes we want to push ourselves farther into this imaginary hole that we’ve made for ourselves after we’ve sinned.
Sometimes, we don’t handle a situation in the best way. Sometimes we don’t handle people in the best way.
Sometimes, we forget that Grace allows Growth after the fall, and that failure is a part of the process.
We get so afraid to fail and admit our failures because we don’t want to ruin the way others perceive us.
Whether it's a test, and exam. An argument with a friend, co-worker, or someone you shouldn't even be arguing with. Whatever it is, failure and making a mistake is hard to deal with.
Yet, it is more important to focus on your character, than your reputation. Your character is who you REALLY are, while your reputation is who people THINK you are. Would you rather fall in love with the way someone appears? Or who they really are?
EMBRACE FAILURE
God KNEW that you were going to make those mistakes, yet he WILLINGLY SACRIFICED himself for you, and still CHOOSES to love you.
God KNEW that your assignment was going to overwhelm you, yet he gave it to YOU anyway.
YOU ARE NOT PERFECT.
And that is okay! Failure teaches you that you were not made to handle things on your own. It teaches you, if you are willing, to learn how to recognize where you went wrong, and how to make things better for the future.
When you fail, it makes room for God to come in and allows his power to be invited in. You look to God in your failure because you know that he CAN when you CAN’T.
This is true for whenever we just can’t anymore- can’t deal with the pain, the heartache, the loss, the mistakes we’ve made, the hurt we’ve been through. When we CAN’T, God CAN.
Less of you, and more of him.
There’s no room for God to build you up if you’ve never been broken down. That’s just how it is. He breaks you down so that he can build you back up again, bigger and better than you were before.
In 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, the apostle Paul strengthens us by writing “But he [GOD] said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
Did you hear that?! There is PERFECT POWER in weakness! It doesn’t say that when you are strong in yourself, he will do mighty works through you. No! It says that when we are WEAK, all the more Christ’s power is with us!
All of us have weakness, and we can equate those to gaps that we need to fill in our lives. Hence, weakness. We need to bring these gaps to the Lord, admit when we're weak, tell him that we just don't know how, tell him that we're not strong enough. And when we present these gaps to the Lord, and present our weaknesses to him (2 Corinthians 12:10), we are STRONG! Because then, our weaknesses are able to be filled with HIS Strength, HIS Knowledge, HIS Wisdom, and HIS Power!
Take some time to evaluate yourself, and find out what your weaknesses are. What sin keep entangling you? What bad habits have you been trying to break out of, but just can't? What are your weakness?
Present them to the Lord. Ask him for his strength, his wisdom, and his supernatural power to made real in your life. Ask him to fill you in the places where you are weak.
Prayer:
Lord, I thank you for your power, for your might, your goodness and sovereignty in my life. I thank you for always wanting what's best for me, and for being my father. Help me in my weakness, God. Help me [insert your weaknesses here. Ex; Help me to pass my exams. Father, how do I study better? How do I pass? Teach me how to better manage my relationships. Teach me how to pray. Teach me how to read the word. Help me to look and sound like you]. Father God, give me wisdom in these areas. Father God I need your strength. Give me heavenly wisdom so that I may life my life according to your will. Holy Spirit, I pray that I would do your will in my life, and not mine.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
